Joshua….be strong and courageous….be strong and very courageous….be strong and courageous. In verses 6-9 God instructed Joshua in leading the Isrealites…how he should lead them. But when it came to handling the Law….he told Joshua to be VERY courageous. It is apparent to me that obedience of the Law is more important to God than leadership of a nation, although for Joshua and the Isrealites, they go hand in hand. Obviously….God is instructing with both…but He goes into greater detail about handling his Law.
Moses had stood in the presence of God and had been given the Law…I believe, in this moment God is giving Joshua a ‘mountaintop’ experience. God is empowering Joshua, strengthening him, encouraging him to be the leader and the caretaker of the Law. God is instructing Joshua to study his Law…and not depart from it, and then He promises success and prosperity.
