Great Lineage

Ruth4:17 The women living there said, "Naomi has a son." And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

It’s amazing yet not surprising that God intertwined these people of great character, and from the end (or the beginning), created the lineage of David and in turn Jesus. I think it’s a great reminder of God’s Sovereignty. God took a man, Boaz….and thrust him into the lineage of Jesus, because he did the ‘right’ thing.

I read that Ruth being a Moabite was under a curse; Deut.23:3 No Ammonite or Moabite or any of his descendants may enter the assembly of the LORD, even down to the tenth generation.
And that the ‘unnamed redeemer’ was powerless to save Ruth. He represents the LAW. And the ten witnesses represent the 10 commandments.

Ruth was basically redeemed by Grace. Isn’t it amazing the continuing theme of Grace that runs through the entire bible and points again and again to Jesus and His plan of ultimate redemption.
