Joshua 9 14 The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the LORD.
Joshua and his men were clearly deceived, because they trusted the word….and believed the ruse, of neighbors (Gibeonites) who would have surely suffered at the sword of the Israelites.
This story can teach many things…but where I landed, on this story, was the Gibeonites recognizing the God of the Israelites as superior to their gods…and believing like it says in Psalm 84:10, “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.”
Lord…better is one day in your house than 1000 elsewhere.
Psalm 84:11-12For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.
